This seminar gives an overview of the development and characteristics of the genre. We are going to discuss how graphic novels can be used to develop all sorts of skills and literacies. The seminar is also going to introduce participants to several graphic novels that can be taught in EFL classes, among them Art Spiegelman’s "Maus" and Neil Gaiman’s "Coraline".
The texts and the teaching suggestions are intended for grades 8 to 13.
Towards the end of the seminar, the participants will have an opportunity to adapt the concepts and methods to the needs of their learners.
The seminar will be taught in English.
