Assessment for Learning and Learner Agency

Assessment for Learning and Learner Agency: an E-Session with Oxford University Press - Bridging the Gap with Assessment for Learning and through Learner Agency

This two-hour interactive workshop will build on the concepts of Assessment for Learning and Learner Agency introduced in the course Bridging the Gap with Oxford University Press online.

Bridging the Gap 13:00h
In the first half of this session we begin by exploring the three elements of classroom practice which underpin Assessment for Learning: Diagnostics, Learning Intentions and Success criteria, and consider how these can be implemented in our English language teaching practice. We will also consider the feedback we give to students, and how it can help to bridge the gaps between current and desired performance, by introducing the seven key elements of effective feedback.

Motivation and Learner Agency (around 14:00 – the part will begin depending on the dynamics in the previous part)
In the second half of the session, focus shifts to learner agency as we discuss practical ideas for integrating high learner agency into day-to-day classroom practice. We explore the five characteristics of an agentive learner, consider how we can develop these traits in our own learners, and address the benefits this has on motivation and engagement in the classroom environment.

End of the interactive workshop: 15:00

At the end of the seminar, you can leave and communicate with us asynchronously, yet you also have an opportunity to ask the PL team questions about the resources referred to in the programme or work on the online resources.

End of the e-session: 15:30

If you participate in all the three parts of the pathway described in the catalogue entry with the PL-number 2313250101, you will receive an Oxford University Press Certificate.
