Heavy Metal in the English Classroom

Working with heavy metal music and classic poetry

You don’t need to have an extensive knowledge about the history of heavy metal or be part of the scene. An appreciation for music should be enough to attend this e-session. This e-session is all about having fun by working with and listening to music and should be seen as a starting point. The approaches can also be applied to other genres of music such as punk, hip-hop, soul and many more.
We will start by having a look at classic poetry and move on to songs in heavy metal and other heavy music.
Whatever you are aiming at, music can be used to improve more than one skill (listening, speaking, viewing, mediation, etc.).
You are encouraged to modify the presented tasks to the needs of your class and add your own ideas.
